What I must do is all that concerns me, not what the people think. This rule, equally arduous in actual and in intellectual life, may serve for the whole distinction between greatness and meanness. It is the harder, because you will always find those who think they know what is your duty better than you know it. It is easy in the world to live after the world's opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after our own; but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude.

Creative Projects

Mycopoetica

2022

A poetry collection exploring fungi's role in climate change through the lens of absurdist philosophy and thematic verse. Ten poems structured to provoke critical reflection on ecological collapse, decomposition, and regeneration, with planned multimedia extensions. Written for Performing Science: Experimentation, Collaboration, and Artistry, my freshman fall course at Duke.

Sacred Architectures

2023–24

Field research documenting over 100 temples across South India and more than 15 in Cambodia, tracing the architectural and religious exchange between Dravidian and Khmer traditions. The project produced a multimedia poster, South Asia's Sacred Temples: A Dive into the Ethno-Geographical and Transcultural Religious Exchange, and a documentary-style trailer on the Dravidian–Khmer architectural dialogue.

Community

Duke Nepali Students Association

2022–26

Founding President. Brought together 40+ Nepali-origin students and staff at Duke, organized 10+ cultural and community events, networked with the Nepali diaspora across North Carolina, and engaged the broader Duke community with Nepali culture.

Duke in Geneva

2024

Studied International Business and the Political Philosophy of Globalization as part of Duke's Study Away Program. Visited the UN, Palais des Nations, UNHCR, ILO, WHO, WTO, and CERN. Traveled across Switzerland, France, Italy, and several other European countries for field experiences in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics.

Interests

Philosophy

Particularly Non-Dualism and the philosophy of mind. The essays I write will draw heavily on this.

Music

Singing and acoustic guitar. Mostly folk, classical Nepali, and whatever I'm currently obsessed with.

Outdoors

Trekking and hiking. I grew up near the Himalayas, so the bar is high.

Cricket

Duke Intramural Leagues Cricket Championship, 2025.

Travel

South Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe. Usually in pursuit of temples, food, or conferences. Ideally all three.

Mycology

Started with Mycopoetica, hasn't stopped. Fungi are genuinely the most interesting organisms on Earth.
